I'm going to check before and after water changes, and then again after 36 or so hours for the first few months. That'll be six times a week, which I think will be enough. After a while I change the schedule to around twice a week or so.

I have never had a problem with my well water. I actually like well water better than city water for fishkeeping. I have never had a problem with water changes or new fish adjusting.
