Have you ever gone overboard trying to troubleshoot and fix a PC problem? Especially if you are pretty good about building your own system..

Well I just did and i swear 400 dollars later it turned out to be a bad Cat5 and HD box!

Thought I share my bafoonery with this topic.

I was losing connection to web at random and frequently..constantly able to get back on then soon losing connection while gaming...or DL's being up and down often...

What did I do? Call Comcast? nope...I decided it cant be my line...

I bought a new case , Power supply, Nic card, new ethernet wires, replaced my router , reinstalled Vista and all software..... In the end Still was bad.

I finally broke down and called comcast and talked to an old tech I worked with in TCI viacom.... I had huge Ingress (feedback signal) disrupting my neighborhood from my house...

What was it.. a bad HD box and Jumper line....two things that are free to fix and change!

I went and blew 400 dollars and hours of free time ....I swear...the look on my wifes face was messed up... All she did was laugh and say "you just wanted to buy new toys".

BAH....

here is the case by the way http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NzA0

Lol TJ - nice job eventually - and enjoy the new toys. You may have to go break it again in a couple months.
