I think the priest probably felt that the hunter was a more powerful player overall, and did not want to lose the hunter's kill if the wolves got him, or chance having you on the other side.

Why in the world would the Priest think I was more powerful then Sway?

Honestly if I was hit and killed Jpap would still be alive.

If the Priest wasn't turned and just F'ed up I'm going to be pissed. I begged them to not protect me.

Following a turned baron's man would be terrible, a direct link between both sides, working for the wolves. i think it would definitely be better to stay anonymous, that way people do not continue to look towards those people for knowledge if there may be contamination later on.
