anyone use a wet/dry filter for freshwater, i am looking at a used tank that would come with a wet/dry filter. any links to info and pics would be great - and also what you guys/gals recommend to do if you are running a wet/dry. its a under tank filter that had a hang on the back overflow, is there additional equipment that is good to run with it. Sorry for the babble just dont know much about this filter - thanks

The only reason not to use one is if you don't want the increased evaporation or if you have CO2 injection. The wet/dry will take the CO2 right out of solution that you're putting into solution.

I use a wet/dry as a central system to run 3 of my tanks, soon to be 4. I love it. I built the whole thing myself and it sits in a 40gal breeder sump. I built a PVC drain manifold and all the tanks have HOB overflows that flow into the common drain and into the w/d. If you're not injecting CO2, w/d is definitely the way to go on larger systems.
