wet/dry filter

how often to clean the wet/dry filter and the overflow boxes? my prefilter boxes look slimy.

Different rules for different filters. With the one I use on my nano, once a week is recommended. Most filters have instructions on how often to clean them. Basically, whenever it starts to look like it needs cleaning if it doesn't say.

What model? Most have a removeable filter media which is the most important part to clean. If you don't have live rock, be sure to clean it in water from your tank so as not to kill the bacteria.
