What algae is this?

What type of algae is this? it is starting to take over 2 of my tanks, so I am suspecting it is something coming in with the water. Both tanks have the light on for around 8 hours a day, one has had DIY Co2 running for a while, just started it up on the other. No ferts added, weekly water changes, feeding once a day with 1 or 2 fast days a week. One tank has about 2WPG, the other about 1.2WPG.

I have checked various sites, and it does not really match anything. Its kind of a grey color, but not branching out like antlers, its at the moment about 4-6mm long.

Fuzz algae.

Looks like some kind of beard algae to me.

I think beard algae is more in clumps/tufts. The OP appears to be fuzz algae as mentioned.

Thanks, I think I need to put together an order for dry ferts and start dosing my tanks.

Yeah, I've started getting that since I've started getting lazy about my ferts too... although fortunately not as bad as you have it.

I recently had a bad bout of that too, heavy OD'd with Excel and now it's gone . . . and so are my Rasbora Espies, all 7 died, so be careful with that stuff. Side note: it didn't bother my Taeniacara candidi at all!! killed the 7 espies and 5 pencils almost immediately though, RCS were fine too, go figure!
