what are good cylcing fish

guppys and tetras cheap fish anything that your not really going to care about but if it makes it.. hurray

zebra danios are probably the most hardy to the ammonia and nitrite which the cycle produces.

tetras are probably one of the worst fish for cycling ... not hardy to ammonia and nitrite.

as for treating fish like disposables ... this is poor husbandry in my opinion. fish are living creatures and should not be killed and trashed with an "oh well" attitude. far better to do a proper cycling job which doesn't kill the fish involved.

i have heard about these fish called endlers are they good for cylcing coz i really like how they look but if they arent aww awell i go with that zebra thing

I have to agree with everything you said that is why I always do a fishless cycle.

Endlers are pretty rare and can be costly. So, not a good cycling fish. But a beautiful guppy-like fish none the less.

I'm not going to get preachy here, but a fishless cycle is not hard to do, and doesn’t stress out any fish. You can use pure ammonia or fish food to do it.

Even better is if you know someone with an established tank that will give you some filter media, an almost instant cycle. No harm no foul.

I cycled my 10 gallon with the vac'd water from my 20 gallon. Took about 10 days that way. I'm filling up my 33 gallon tonight (i hope) or maybe tomorrow. I'm going to do the same thing + use my filter to help it even further. This time I'm doing a completely fishless cycle. Much less hassle and stress. Well that and I don't have anything to put into it yet. :)

I have to say that there really are no fish that are "good" for cycling. Intentionally exposing fish to high levels of toxins isn't a nice idea when there are other methods out there. However, if you have to do a cycle with fish, be so on top of the water changes that ammonia and nitrites are hardly visible on the test cards. Or add the product Bio Spira just before you add your fish.
