what are my gold rams doing?

Trying to start up again
i've noticed today after my water change that my rams seem to be fighting, it looks like they are 'kissing' then one will hit the side of the other back off and the other will do the same back. no damage that i can see.

mostly the male is chasing the female, she has started hiding out behind powerhead. when ever she comes out it starts again.

i'm quite sure they are male and female, male has longer dorsal and pelvic fins, he has bright orange face and is bigger.
she has a pickish stomach area ans is much fatter then him.

Please help.

ps, they are in my 15g

It's quite normal for male rams to "pick on" the female untill she is ready to sqawn (Look for an increase in the pink coloration, and cleaning a rock or digging in substrate). The only thing you can do is provide a hiding place, or better yet two where the female can run to stay out of sight and still move around a little. I had pieces of slate standing on end about an inch from the back of the tank (used silicone to glue it to a slate base). They overlapped just enough that the female could swimm from one side of the tank to the other without being seen by the male, who spent most of his time up front. One day they will be swimming around together, and the next day the female is in hiding. Crazy rams.

Cool. that explains the sudden change in behavior of my gold rams. i just cleaned the tank and did a water change. all of a sudden, the male is chasing the female around and vice versa. before, they'd chase each other for just a couple seconds. now they're chasing each other none stop. maybe i'll have some lil fry soon....
