What are some good bottom feeders for a cichlid tank?

Careful with julidochromis and lab mixing. It's usually not a good idea to mix lakes as they have different temperament and territorial needs. Labs are considered peaceful compared to other mbuna, but it's all relative.

I like bottom dwellers and would keep them even if they didn't do a good job of cleaning the tank, but that's beside the point. They do help keep the tank clean. That's part of their function in nature. Of my five tanks, I have one without plecos or snails. It's no coincidence that it's also the one I have to clean the most.

well here is a sample before and after shots, its different in setup wise but here is my point..

1. This is the Texas rocks with algae covered on them.. BEFORE

2. This is the Texas rocks with new ones added that have been cleaned by my baby BN plecos.. AFTER

I know there are a lot of folks out there that don't believe in placing plecos in an African setup but it works for me..

I disagree, quite a few bottom dwellers are in fact predators not "scavengers". I believe even Corydoras species feed on insects, larvae, worms, etc. in the wild They aren't there to clean up after other fish...

Pappy is right they don't just eat the crap they love lives as well and they should be fed lives and an assortment of other foodstuffs..

Yeah I purchased 4 long time ago at 1 inch and 1 year later, it turned out to be 1 male / 3 female combo. I kept them for 3 years which means for 2 years they have been breeding... Lots of babies... :)
