i've finally decided what i'm goind go to do i'm going to get a 30gal tank with a pair of convicts and a 20gal for fry. but i was wondering what else could i put in the 30gal to keep the tank clean and control algae. a pleco would get to big for my tank and looking at other posts they congribute more waste than they help with alge control. i appreciate all of you help.

A couple of raphael/talking catfish and a semi-mature bristlenose cat should do a bang-up job, and the convicts will not likely bother them.

a gold nugget pleco might be good, or a medusa pleco, if you could ever find one.

Yes.

The pair and fry part would seem to indicate spawning.

Even if he hadn't said it, which he did, it would probably be hard to convince a pair of convicts to NOT spawn.
