Today, I bought three Red Pacus's for $12( 2 for $12 deal)

at a nice small fish store, but from the research I gathered

today the aquarium will be too small for them very soon.

Any help?

This was recently posted.............. (a beautiful fish though)

I personally wuold go with a small school of cardinal tetras - although they are small you wont loose them due to their vivid red and blue colours.

Perhaps you could provide us with the information indicitave of hybridization btw Poecilia and Xiphophorus, for proof of the nonoccurance of an event is much less easy to show than proof of occurance.

Yikes! see if you can trade the pacu's back in for some smaller fish....

1) Theres Harlock
2) Theres Rar
3) Theres science
4) Theres my little experment
5) Theres LOTS of research papers on the web
6) Theres me
7) IT WONT HAPPEN

Show me proof that it will hapen. You are the one defending your self. Iv got several other people behind me on this.

Whats "from everything that i have hear"? I woud like to see/here "everything that you have heard"

my LFS, all three have told me that and the little(i admit not much) says that they will. I dont know who to believe, i wanted them with my guppies but everyone kept telliung me no no no. i am afraid to try it. sry to ruffle any feathers, you guys gave me info that contradicted all other info, just was a little skeptical thats all.

Animals of different species generally don't crossbreed (that's part of the way that species are defined). While it can happen, the burden of proof is on the lfs making the claim in this instance. You'll see that most everyone on here has been burnt by lfs advice at one point, which makes us even more skeptical than normal when they're the source.

Icka--what would be the harm in keeping guppies/platies together? I say try it and see what happens.

Hybrids btw different species aren't exactly uncommon, but the problem with the guppy/platy cross is that they are fish from different genera.

Icka - Kas tends to get a little too worked up over things sometimes and it tends to come across as petulance on the boards. I assure you that no feathers were ruffled on my end, at least.
