I think your friend may be right. It looks like it may be a Female Cyanotilapia Afra. A few things make a C. Afra distinguishable including the eyes, the slope of the head and most importantly the teeth. One of the common names for the C. Afra is the Dogtooth Cichlid because of the type of teeth it has. The tooth type is called unicuspid or single point. See if you can get a close-up photo of it's mouth and perhaps post it here.
