thanks for taking a look

i have platies, otos, paradise fish and MTS in the tanks and possibly another type of snail but i dont know what that would be or how it got in there..

Agreed with the pond snails....

Nip it in the bud and get em out now.....
 
I'd actually be happy for you if they weren't crazed plant eaters and multiply like bunnies in heat.
 
FYI- they dont eat healthy plants. I have 2 different types of pond snails in 3 of my tanks and all the plants look great!
 
they don't eat "all" healthy plants. There are some plants that they will devour. I have a planted tank and they completely finished one type of plant only in my tank but left the others alone. I'll have to look up what it was as I don't recall the name off hand.
 
OK, I haven't seen a snail of this variety eat any plants unless the plant is rotting already. I have hundreds of these snails in various tanks. Remove 'em if you want, or just use this as an excuse to get a dwarf Puffer, they eat snails for breakfast....lunch...dinner...snacks...

BTW, they are fantastic for breaking down uneaten food into more plant-ready nutrients as well.
