what are these things???

Hi,

I just upgraded to a 29 gallon biocube. (I started with a 12 gallon about 2 years ago)

I put in 20 lbs of live fiji sand and 10 pounds of live rock (I'm going to add about 10 more lbs of live rock)

There are what look like really tiny sand sifting starfish coming out of the rock, there are about 12 of them. I have a feeling that they're NOT sand sifting starfish, LOL. Can I leave them in there?

Once I add more rock and have everything going well chemistry-wise, I was thinking of trying an "easy" coral. Do y'all have any recommendations for some beginner corals to try?

Asterina starfish? If so, ok in small numbers but after a while the population can become a problematic but it is easy to remedy by manually removing them off the glass.

Easy corals, well besides to normal softies, zoas, mushrooms, leathers, and xenia, I would say something in the Euphyllia family like a torch, hammer, or frogspawn are good easy corals as well.
 
Nope, that's not them. They are small, black and spidery looking. They have four longer "legs" and two shorter ones and are kind of "bristly" looking. They are too small for me to get a good picture, I think.
 
sound a little like baby brittle starfish from a nuclear wast facility. Are u sure they are starfish. Pics would definitely help.

They sound like micro brittle stars to me, also. I've found them to be harmless additions to my tanks.
 
That is EXACTLY what they are!!!

Thanks SO much!!! There are a LOT of them in my tank, maybe 14. I thought they looked like some sort of starfish....

Are they ok with corals? I don't have any yet, but I'm thinking of trying some.
