Would a dwarf gourami or similar do a number on them for you?

You want some surface feeding insect eater, thats why the Endlers would be successfull.

A few small fish should be OK in the tank with your Discus.

Shouldn't be a problem for them. My guppy tanks in the garage get up to 85-90 in the summer all the time. They just breed and grow faster (and eat more).

The only thing I'd be concerned with is if they would stress out the Discus. Then again I know nothing about discus except they are schooling, expensive, and delicate.
 
I put 40 fancy guppies (so they look good and I can keep em in there) in the 240......problem solved....its also funny to watch the discus look confused by their tails

I love how you incorporated the phalaenopsis orchids, palms, spathiphyllum, and various other houseplants around your tank. It looks very tropical! :)
