what can i do with 2 gallons?

Bamboo shrimp would get way to big for a 2gal tank, The 5gal tank is probably to small for it too. The bamboo shrimp can get to be around 5" and they are a filter feeder. You would never be able to keep enough food suspended in the water column to keep it feed without fouling the water very quickly.

I second that one. I had a tiny juvenile bamboo shrimp (1.5") in a 10 gal, and that wasn't enough to sustain him. He ended up jumping out, probably due to lack of food. I didn't find him until the next day and by then it was far too late. I want another one now, but I will house him in a 29 gallon AND supplement with filter-feeding invertebrate food.

You are right about the size of the bamboo shrimp, my mistake. I also have a young one right now, with the otpion of 10, 35 and 75G tanks to move him into when he gets bigger. As for feeding, they will eat algae, you can also drop small pieces of algae tabs into the water to disolve for them to eat. I also have a betta and quite a few plants in there to provide pelnty of food detritus for him. So, bottom, line, I retract what I said about a bamboo shrimp, but there are other forms of shrimp that make interesting occupants of small tanks.

yes, bamboo shrimp top out at 4". not a good idea.

fishctacher why did you lie in the frist place. now your troll.
I repented, and said how sorry I was for lying, and that I had no intention of being a troll. for your information, I hate the kids at school. I came to this site to associate with mature adults and talk about my hobby. this tai95 person was not raised as gently as I was, and now that I see this I forgive him. I apologized, tai, and I made amends big time. I will never lie like that again. and if you read my post, I said that I was actually going to get all the tanks I mentioned in the future. it might be beneficial to you if you could open your heart and forget your past, tai. it is over now. you don't need to hurt me just for my youthful exuberance and my desire to fit in where anywhere else I couldn't. i'm sorry your father hurt you like that.

From the way tai posted, I don't think he has any problem with the way his dad treated him. All he is saying is that his father would hold him accountable and punish him for his lies. My mother would do the same thing. I am 24 years old and I can tell you if I lied to my mother today she would probably smack the s**t out of me. As she should. Some people don't forgive as soon as others and some really really hate being lied to. I know I hate it pretty bad...very bad. The reason I'm not ticked at ya is bc I didn't waste my time with your posts. Some people may have, and they might still be angry for it. You can just apologize and assume everyone will be hunky dory. You have to take into consideration that YOU lied to them, and you need to give them time to get over it.

I told my mom and she didn't hold me accountable, as she saw that I made amends. I know just saying "sorry" doesn't make it right. I am just trying to earn the trust of the masses again, and show them I didn't mean to inconvenience them. and I know it will take a while. I think I learned a valuble lesson.

Dude...let it go and we will all forget about it that much faster....

There have been lots of good suggestions for a 2 gallon tank, but remember that any mishaps will be magnified b/c its such a small space. Keep a close eye on your water parameters, be very careful about overfeeding, and definatly do AT LEAST weekly water changes of 40% or so...

tai is the one who won't let it go, he keeps bringing it up and pestering me.

well be the bigger person, stop whining ("hes the one who wont stop! he started it!) and let it go. If T posts again, he gets time out. If you post again after that, you both get time out. (being mom-ish, not really going to give you guys time outs....but stop arguing, its giving me a headache!)
