Hey guys, Ive just bought a 3ft tank which is 900mm X 390mm X 460mm and want it to be a ciclid tank. I would prefer to have maybe a few larger ones than heaps of small ones but hey, if that size isnt large enough Im happy to have a few dwarf ones.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Edit: I was told that the african ciclids are my best bet by my lfs.

ya calvus or you could have a tanganikian tank a few rocks mostly open sands with lots of shells in there have a shelldweller tank with neolamprogus brevius and some neolamprogus multifascus if those r spelled correctly and there are lots of other tankanikian fish besides shellys that could be cool and try dwarf africans like a demasoni of a few bigger ones b carful not to over stock they grow quick if i were u id just buy one nimbochromis fuscoteatus i have one 6 in one in my 30 with 2 big ps.zebras i have a bigger tank when its needed

Ok well Ive just been poking around and Ive found out that those tanks are supposedly hard to maintain?

Id also like to mention I have no intentions of breeding, I really just want a cool tank I can have in my room.

How many calvus cichlids would fit into a 35G tank, I read that they are very slow growing, so I suppose I could have a few in there which would give me enough time to save for a larger tank for when they reach full size?

God this community is FTW

Ok cool, thanks for the advice. Ive been looking at maybe 2 calvus then Id like another species if possible, what would make good tankmates for them? Also would it be posible to swap out a cichlid for a scavenging fish that would help keep the tank clean? Ill be running a 3 stage over the back filter that is suited to my tank size, but Im going to get another one because I want the water to be in mint condition.

Argh so many questions :lipssealedsmilie:
