Just noticed that my white/blue betta seems to have some redness and irritation on his head and over his back. Not sure what it could be...any ideas ?

He's in a 2 gallon tank by himself and some live plants......ammonia-0, nitrites-0, PH-7.8.... which is a normal PH reading for my water.

lol....does look like sunburn, doesn't it....but he only has a small 7 watt incandescent bulb over him, so I don't think THAT's it... ;)

I did consider the bacterial issue Flyfly....don't know where that could have cropped up from though...I do keep his tank nice and tidy....hhmmm......He seems to be acting normally enough and doesn't seem to be in any distress at this point.

I think for now I'll just do a water change each day to keep his home extra tidy and give him a few vitamin soaked black worms each day and see how that does. I hate medicating...it always seems to make them worse off sometimes.

Thanks for the help Fly and Smurf ! :)

Is there a glass cover between the light and the water? If not, he could have jumped up and burned his back on the light bulb.

Hi Emg
This could just be another between-changing-color phases.
As long as you dont notice any bumps or visible wounds on his head, I guess he is alright.
