Sooo today I was taking some stuff out to the bran and i see a little 4 inch snake caught in a spiderweb. I did free it it was one of those little black snakes with a yellow rig right after the head. Anyhow since this thing is so small, what would it eat? Not mice because it's head is about 1/4 inch long. Any answers. I really interested.

Probably insects, but on that note, I have had baby cornsnakes that look too small to be eating mice that have eaten newborn pinkies with no problem.

Ringnecks that small eat earthworms.

Your best bet is to just carrying him to the woods and let him go.

i agree, you shouldn't turn a wild creature you find/catch into a pet. check it for injuries and if it's ok, let it go.

Sounds like a ringneck as well. I kept one for awhile, only ate earthworms and slender salamanders. THey are cool snakes, but hard to feed. What color is the belly?

I believe their natural diet is mainly insects and earthworms. Feeder crickets from your lfs would probably be suitable.

I had a big one before and all it ate were salamanders... got tired of constantly looking for slenders go I released him

yes they're beautiful creatures but not good pets, i have to restrain myself from keeping every one that gets trapped in the pool ;)
