So for all of you who have livebearers and what not. What do you do if you have an unplanned family lol. I assume that due to the nature of the situation you wouldnt want to get rid of them, but if you have 50 offspring......a larger tank isnt always an option.

sell to petstore?

If you have male and female livebearers together, there should be nothing unexpected about fry. lol

Haha. Again, I just lol'd. Definitely. I never had to worry about fry with my platys because they always got eaten by other fish. None of mine ever made it to a size large enough to even need to take them to the lfs. If you are going to have something else in there with the platys like tetras, offspring shouldn't be much of a problem for you.

I had some unexpected Mickey Mouse sword fry recently. In fact, I had a batch after I separated the m/f, and then a month later, I had another batch with them still separated ! The 2 pet stores near me (petco/smart) didn't
want 'em, and I figured i was going to have a hard time getting rid of them. Enter craigslist, exit fry. It took me less than a week to give away more than 100 fry ! I was pretty impressed ! So now the only livebearers I have together are the ones I want to breed (wrestling halfbeaks) ! :)

If you have a big enough tank, get a few angels- they just adore livebearer fry and will willing allow the fry to shelter in their stomach cavity.
