What do moss balls do?

They can use nitrates and provide oxygen to the fish like a plant.

WEll...It is a plant, but it grows so slowly it barely uses any nitrate at all, and doesn't give off much oxygen. It is not a moss at all. Its really a type of algae that grows in cold mountain lakes. Someone in the trade thought it would sell better if it was called a moss ball instead of an algae ball!

Here is an article about it: Marimo ball

What it can do is limited only by your imagination!

They "eat" your fish's poop, don't get rid of it. After a while thy will start to look really cool.

No they dont. Where do you come up with this crap..

They do however act as a Nitrate sponge. .

They never actually "attach" to anything. It is a free floating algae that you have to tie down if you want to cover a rock with it and it will never actually attach to the rock you have to keep string on it to keep it attached.

They are like any other plant in the tank: they use up some of the nitrates in the tank and give off oxygen for the fish. On top of that, I think they look really cool.
