What do you think happened?

I did a water change two days ago and did everything that I always do pruned plants,cleaned algae of the glass,cleaned gravel, changed 70% of the water, put in water conditioner, filled tank back up, put more chlorine remover in and fertilized plants. checked fish in the morning all were doing well. then came home last night and 3 discus,3 Sae's,1 Oto, and 4 cardinal tetra's were dead but all the other fish are just fine. anyone got any idea's on what happened?

Did you check the PH of the water you put in the tank? What is the PH now compared to normal? Water company could have added something to the supply that is different than normal.

I didn't think about something being in the water but why would the other fish be just fine? I have a ph controller so the ph doesn't change.

Maybe you are overstocked? And something happened?

Did you use a sponge or something else to clean the aquarium not meant for aquarium use? I've heard many times where people have accidently killed their fish by using a sponge or other household product to clean their tanks. Sorry for your loss.

No everything I use is only used in this tank.

how did you clean the gravel? did you just vaccum it or did you take it out and rinse it? have you checked your ammonia levels?

Yeah I just vaccumed it with a python and all test results are good.
