What do you do for a living?

I'm 17, I live in rural Kansas outside of Augusta which is 20miles from Wichita. I raise goats and a few cattle to sell. During the summer I buck bales and build fence for my dad and make a couple bucks. I'm currently looking for a job because as it is now I only bring in 1k a year.

Im looking at getting out of highschool (not dropping out, testing out) and going to a CC this next semester and getting some classes out of the way, I want to go that route for 2 years and then head to a large college to finish my education by getting a Degree in Spanish and a Buissness degree. From there I plan on heading to UTI and picking up a cert as a Diesel Mechanic.

Someday I plan on owning a custom Performance Diesel shop. Hoping to pull in around something like 70k+ a year but it will take a while to build my company up.

Entraepenurship (horribly spelled I know) Rocks!!!!

Pm me if you have any advice on this.

As for having a wife that makes more money, My girlfriend who I love so much is looking at being a forensic anthropologist. Something she is very capable of being. That job would pull in around 200K a year so I figure I will mooch off her for the rest of my life.

I'm 30. I'm finishing up my Ph.D. in philosophy. I teach undergraduate classes (like ethics and logic) while working on my dissertation. I'm barely scraping by, but I love philosophy, I love working with my students, and I love university life. I worked a 9-to-5 job for several years before going back to grad school, and I made a lot more money then, but I wasn't happy. So I have to agree with all the people here who advised you to do what you love, regardless of salary. To me, no amount of money is worth being unsatisfied, unhappy, or uninspired, for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.

I'm 18 years old, graduated in 2007, high school. Currently attending a community college. Taking general courses needed and credits to transfer to a university...Still undeclared at the moment.

And for the fun and all, I enjoy gaming, watching videos, talking to buddies, going out, and lastly being a high tech aquarist.

lol btw i can't believe the amount of people who posted their salary on here

Coler , I Work on a railroad for a dollar a day :silly:

I'm 32, have a BA in psychology and am currently applying to schools for PHD work. I am (for now) working as a counselor/supervisor in a detox and transitional treatment facility for people suffering with addictions. I get paid poorly (lowly county government employee) but the rewards I get working with and helping people through some incredibly tough times far outweigh cash compensation.

I work with an amazing group of people (both staff and clients) and hope to continue this work well into old age. Money isn't everything... do what you enjoy and find other rewards in. You'll find a way to get by.

this might seem naive, but ive never had a problem sharing my salary with curious people... whats the big deal with it?

I agree, what should I try to impress or be threatened by people on the internet, pretty sure they are not going to steal my 6 yo car or my 53" flat screen.
