What do you do for a living?

I'm 23 and graduated college with a degree in pathobiology and a minor in microbiology. I'm currently working in a vet clinic as a tech making about $24k (for which my brother constantly mocks me about). Hopefully I'll be going to vet school soon though! :headbang2:

Im 28, am a stay at home mom, I get paid with smiles and love. Very satisfying job I must say.

Until April of this year I managed ~7000 head of nursery pigs and co managed about 10,000 head of finisher hogs (gilts to be sold for breeding-meat), I worked with that company for 9 years, was severly underpaid, and hope to never have to go back to that business. When I left my yearly salary was ~29k.

Wow, I thought you were about 18! (no offense meant!)

Of course, me and the wife are getting so old, everyone is starting to look like a teenager to us ... <frown>

We tried to stop some years ago, we couldn't--don't let it happen to you! LOL And good luck with those kids! I have three grown boys and love 'em to death ... <smile>

Warm regards,
JS

I have a cat, Mr. Digits (a Hemingway cat--extra toes!), I love him, the wife pampers him to no end. With what the vet soaks me for his care, I could buy a yacht! I suspect that is a good field you are going into ...

I graduated in 02 with a bachelors in Psychology and a bachelors in Sociology. I wouldn't recommend it unless you for sure plan on going to grad school, and even then I'm not so sure. ;) I left my last social services job with 6 years experience in the field making $12 per hour. Many of the social service jobs I have known people to get with a master's pay 35K-40K tops, but it ends up not being much of a raise from regular old direct service jobs because you end up working 60-70 hours a week and getting phone calls at all hours. Now I'm back in school again, totally switching career paths, hoping that a bachelors in computer science will finally pay off when I graduate. I have easily $40K invested in my education already, and sadly, very little to show for it. I loved my last job, but was basically forced to sell out.. I need to at least be able to get by on my own one of these days.

I design and prepare shop drawings (using CAD) for walkin wine cellars, kitchens, libraries.. I also program our NC machines in the shop.. I'm also the middleman between employees, the boss, clients, suppliers, etc.

I don't make as much as I think i should.. but hey... what do you wanna do . .

Stay in school!! best advice I can give you . It's so important. I regret having dropped out of college everytime I think of it...

I work in Telecommunications as a senior telecommunications analyst. I make good money, but have been told I'm underpaid by about $20,000 a year.

As far as age - I'm FAR from retirement. lol

After the Army I worked for my own business as a computer network engineer. When not setting up and designing networks I built or repaired computers for clients in business applications. Income was commensurate with effort applied.

Current job - none; disabled and may never work again (TBD).

I'm 28 and currently working as a paramedic. If you can stomach it, it's a pretty cool job but not one you could make a lifetime out of. Last year I made about 40K working 70+ hours a week.

I'll be starting grad school in January to become a PA:) and in two years will have trippled my salary working way less. Not sure where you live, but in my area, PAs are in huge demand. Healthcare always seems to ba a safe profession to get into!

I stay at home with my two little girls (21months and almost 1 month) due to my wife not wanting to miss too much time from school (med student) but Im not complaining.
