I'm pretty sure those are corydoras aeneus, the "bronze cory."
You may already know, but be careful what you put in the tank with the betta. Many species of tetra and barb will look at his fins and think "lunch!" He'll be fine with the cories, however.

emarald corydoras are not acctually corydoras, they are bronchis. bronchis are closley related to corydoras and share many of the same habbits. the bronchis will have a dorsal fin that spans farther down their backs, and will be "taller."
