What do you have as a clean-up crew?

black foot turbos are a bit harder to come by, and not for same on etropicals thats why i recommended the astrea. I have heard of emerald crabs being bad, but i have heard of them being wonderful as well.
Arrows are cool to look at and easy enough to remove if needed, same with sally light foots.

Not a big fan or serpant stars personally.. but they are sometimes used still.

Then again.. im a pro crab person =).

All they do is there job... if you want them to do there job then they are very good, if you dont like them doing there job of scavenging and removing dead tissue from dieing, decaying flesh... then don't buy them =).

Psst, they do more than that...they are opportunistic. Some more so than others. In any regard I can understand wanting both crabs and snails but I still don't feel that getting an entire clean up crew at once is wise in a new tank.

well yes, thats pretty much what the word scavenger means isnt it? They are opportunistic feeders, but that most of the time means that they eat what sick and or dieing, right?

I can see what your saying with the not getting a whole clean-up crew at once, but my understanding of this was that he is going to move all of his set-up from his 55 to his 90, take the current clean-up crew, and then buff it up with this one?

That is exactly what I'm doing. I'm moving everything except for the sand, I have new sand.

I could wait a little bit after I get everything moved into the 90G before I bring in the clean-up crew. I 'm just looking at what I can do to keep my reef tank clean, fish, corals, and inverts happy, and a overall great looking tank.

ok, well IMO you should have no problems. Etropicals will ship everything to you in a styrofoam cooler, and if you have any problems with Dead on arrivals they are very good with customer service and replacements and or credit.

Personally i would wait about a week to get everything settled in the new tank and then order.

I've got like 12 hermits, varying between blue legged (majority), zebra, and red legged.
1 Mitrax crab
1 Sand sifting star

This is in a 10 gallon reef tank.

I just started out and have just 5 snails and 1 blood shrimp in a 37 gallon. Can I add skunk shrimp with the blood shrimp? Do they need to be in pairs? I am shying away from hermits since so many have written about them killing the snails for the shells. Any safe way around that?

yes you can mix a skunk in with your fire shrimp. i started with a fire in my 37g as well and added a fire shrimp 9 months or so later :) as far as hermits go, as stated they are scavengers and opertunistic feeders. if they are not getting enough to eat or are not provided enough shells to change into they will eat your snails. i personally love hermit crabs, i love how they look and think they do a much better job keeping the LR clean then the snails do.
