What do you think of the glass catfish?

they do best in a species tank or a tank with tankmates that wont bother them. you NEED to have space for at least 6, with 8 being better. glass catfish can be easily outcompeted for food and then they will starve.

if you can have them or not depends on the tetras and the size of tank you have.

well i have 6 right now in my 28g tank. check my signature for specs. I dint want them to die on me... maybe i should bring them back and get a hardier fish :(

with rasboras , cories and a dwarf gourami? should be fine....not to worry.

ok, ill try to keep an eye on them. they hide all day, only come out at night. Think they will gain confidence over time and come out or not? Also, should i do my normal evening feeding and then more food after I turn off the lights or wait for the evening feeding until after I turn out the lights?

I had 3 kryptopteros bicirrhis in a community tank many years ago. They were very hardy and long-lived for me. They are timid and do better in a school. I think that they are all still wild-caught, so a lot depends on how much stress they went through in the capture and shipping process. I agree they should be kept with other non-aggressive species and you should make sure they get their share of food.

ok, i will turn off teh lights and watch them to make sure they get food. If it looks like they are just too timid, i may return them to the store, I don't want them to be miserable.

I have six of them, in a tank with some black skirt tetra's and penguin tetra's. They hid for awhile when I first got them, but after there initial acclimation, are now all over the tank. While they still do school alot, i often see them off by themselves as well. Great Fish and fun to watch!!
