What do you think of the glass catfish?

Thats encouraging! how long did it take for them to come out during the day? Also, how to you assure that they eat when they are hiding? I sprinkled in food tonight after I shut out the light but have no idea if they are eating. I don't want them to die on me :(
 
Perhaps try some frozen Hikari blood worms if they are on their diet list they sink and might be easier for them to get some even if it's just one.
Also most of my fish arn't supposed to enjoy Spirulina discs algae food for bottom feeders they all do in my signature (excepts Harlequin) with the discs only litle bits break off over a period of time and you can fish the uneaten out after 6 hours or so.. maybe they will enjoy a little nibble on that then at least you know they have had some veggie.

Oh and if after a while they do enjoy the spirulina I break my one disc up into a bunch of pieces so they are more large bite size for everyone they go crazy for it.
 
alright, woke up this morning, 5 of the 6 glass cats are swimming around in the tank. The 6th still hiding. After turning on the tank light, a couple are still out and swimming around, looks like we are making a little progress. Off to the store today to get them some brine shrimp and blood worms. hopefully they eat those.
 
well, 1 of the 6 catfish have died as of this morning :( I have no clue if the others are actually eating. I've been keeping the tank light off so they come out, feeding bloodworms, and still no luck. I think i might call the petstore and see if they will refund me so I can get a hardier fish :( .
 
Hmmm I wonder when they got them in they may be in double stress maybe the store just got them in the day you bought them.
How is your tank doing any luck with the bio-spira?

called the pet store yesterday, said they have had them for awhile. As for the bio spira, seems to be working because my ammonia, nitrites and nitrates are still reading 0ppm.
 
It's interesting that I'm hearing that these are delicate fish . . . mine have gone through a lot and I haven't lost a single one. (I've had 5 for about a year.) I remember that it took a few days to acclimate them to flakes, but then they started eating fine. They get a mix of Top Fin tropical flakes, frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms, and flaked spirulina. I don't think they would eat algae flakes, as I've never seen mine eat food off the bottom of the tank. Another interesting thing about them is that they can get opaque spots if they're sick or if their condition isn't too good.

I do know that they're sensitive to low temperatures. I made the *awful* mistake of bringing home some in the same bag with some frozen food. 10 minutes after I'd left the store, 2 out of the 3 were dead due to the food cooling their water, and the third almost didn't make it. Mine have always lived at temps at or above 74 degrees. I'd suggest keeping them and seeing how it turns out. If you catch them at the right light, you see all sorts of rainbow colors reflect off their sides :)
 
Ok, made the executive decision to bring the glass cats back to the store. Interesting that the tank was now being medicated when I got to the petstore... Anyways, I picked up 9 Blue King Tetras. They seem very friendly and curious.

Funny though, I cant find a lot of infor on the internet about the Blue King Tetra. Perhaps it goes by a different name? They look similar to the penguin tetra. Heres a picture:
