I am a :newbie: with a newbie question about the forums, the question is what does it mean to "BUMP" a thread?
What does it mean to "BUMP" a thread?

Well, in that sense, the thread is being bumped back to public viewing. Normally, it is necessary only after the thread slid out of public viewing due to new threads and posts and is best used if you want more queries. Of course, to prevent abuse, we advise you bump your thread only once a day especially in Classified Ads forum. If the thread has already been answered, no need to bump it. More people will eventually leave their views in that thread. All it takes is patience and you will find you will not have to bump the thread.
Sometimes it's fun to bump old GCC threads, like ones where current moderators were not yet mods and did or said bad things 
*Funny story*
I worked at a jack in the box, night manager! And we had a new girl, she was the prettiest girl to work fast food (also the uh, "blondest." smell what I'm stepping in) And well, we bumped old orders off the screen so our new orders could be seen. Now there was this HUGE button that said "NEXT" the monitor. people who were working there 5 minutes figured out how to bump and order, you pushed next so the new ones came up. She had been there 2 weeks, and they put her on my shift. (2 weeks, you know what your doing on the front line) We were slammed, football game ended and everyone and there mom decided to eat at jack in the box:22_yikes: I was running the back, grill, and all that busy stuff. I kept yelling "Bump the orders" but nothing was happening. I looked up and saw this girl, totally puzzled, slapping the side of the monitor, I ask what are you doing? Proudly she says, "I am bumping the orders!" I started laughing so hard it hurt, she was literly bumping the monitor and all the orders, when there was this HUGE "next" button bottom center in huge red letters!Wow, She lost her job 2 weeks later after using crosive chemicals to wipe down tables and chairs. But from then on, when someone did something stupid at work, someone would walk up and smack the side of the monitor!
