how exactly might I go about stocking one of these? male betta? Couple of female bettas? Livebearers? I've never had one before and its confusing the hell out of me. Suggestions!

Perhaps it would be worth it just to go with a standard 10g set up.

I'd forget the biORB nonsense and get a Fluval Edge if I wanted a nano tank..

I have the fluval edge and it's a pretty decent set up. Either way you go I would suggest a invert tank. The edge is cool because it has a large foot print for it's tank size so you can put a lot of shrimp in it and view them from any angle even above. And the light is enough to grow many plants, I gotta get pictures up of the tank so you could see.

Shrimp, decorative snails, and very small fish. No bottom feeder fish though, there's not enough bottom. A betta would fit, but may eat the shrimp. A smaller style of dwarf gourami might work. I can't remember how much a biorb holds though, so it needs to be at least 5 gallons for a dwarf gouarmi to work. A small school of neons would work. A few fancy tail guppies would work (only males though, unless you want problems).

Probably inverts...not the best "dimensions" when it comes to fish when length is generally more crucial than anything. I suppose a male betta would work. I wouldn't do any females since I prefer at least 4 and in a 20L.

I'd go with a standard 10g myself. Rectangle tanks are just too great and cost a ton less. Better yet you could probably look into a 20g for the price of a Biorb or Fluval Edge.
