Member of the carp family. They rely on something else to lay there eggs in.

The only reason I guessed that is because they were pictured in our very first fish book "The Little Golden Guide to Tropical Fish" circa 1979, lol. I've never seen them & didn't remember they were in the carp family but the breeding with some kind of shellfish was interesting.

Nailed it, a northern pike or Muskie are my dream fish, but unrealistic that’s why a pickerel is on my bucket list… bucket list fish might be a good thread too
