as you know i have an 5-7 gallon pond outdoors. At the moment I only have one male gold fish in the pond there is a lot of algea in the pond and he won't be able to eat it all. But i want something that will survive in the pond all winter like the goldfish doe's. :look:

that is too small for a goldfish. you can try gambusia but they dont do much to algae, do you have plants? how much sun is the pond getting and how much are you feeding? is the stringy algae or just green water? you cant get rid of all the algae but in established ponds it shouldnt be taking over everything either.

its stringy and the pond is more like 13 gallons 1 foot deep and 2 feet deep in parts and its 4 feet long and its in the sun for like 5-6 hours a day. I dont know what type of plant there are but there is some long grass in a cluster in the middle of the pond. Can gambusia stay in the pond all winter?

 Well i have one gold fish in a 7 gallon pond and there is nothing else to keep him occupied except eating. So I was wondering if I could get some other fish to keep company. But they would have to get along because greg my gold fish is old and I don't think he's up to fighting. Could anyone help me?

how many ponds do you have ccclifford? You're going to have to be precise when asking for advice. If you legitimately want help, skirting around like this is making things confusing and encouraging conflicting advice.

I think his pond is about 50-70 gallons instead of 7. If he put another goldfish in there they should be okay.
