I am keeping a couple small comets. I have had lots and lots of experience with other tropical freshwater fish, but never have mixed comets with anything because I heard some fish can pick on them. I am wondering if anyone knows of a good suggestion for a freshwater fish that would do well living in a community with comets.
Thanks!
Janet

ooohhhh! I think I will try the balas! They are so beautiful!
they would look striking next to the comets!

Balas need at least a 100 gallon tank.. and if they were in a proper school a 300 gallon would be best.

:iagree: Balas get big and the more the happyer.

I think I may just have to get another tank= I enjoy my goldies so much but also miss having so many others- my tanks have always been rather simple but in the last large tank I had for 5years before we moved HERE and switched to goldfish(don't worry all my fishies went to a new owner) I had a beautiful angelfish, some neons, a pleco, and some beautiful orange and lemon tetras- all little but the angel=who grew from a dime to about 5 inches in my care....I really miss that-...
yeah, I may need to get another tank...LOL!

Every year I bring in my pond fish with no prob-
Usually I add a little water from the pond to the tank to sort of speed up the water conditioning - I add fresh water too, and let it work through any cycling it may need to do before I add the fish- This year I would like to try to make my indoor tank more like the pond. I would like to bring in a few of the pond plants, and one of the larger rocks-anyone out there do this before? Any advice would be appreciated!

are the plants in pots? if so all you have to do istake the pot and put it in the tank, if the pot is small enough ;)
how big is the tank you use the winter them in?

btw, you could make an indoor pond/tank(more like a tank if you choose to use acrylic/glass) pretty cheap(well cheaper than buying one anyway).
I saw a couple of threads about it on MFK, I'll see if I can find them.
