I gotta go with intelligent SA/CA Cichlids. My Jag is so smart, he does my Taxes.

I'm a little confused, do you mean personality or attitude as in "doesn't take any crap from anybody" If it's the latter then african cichlids will own all of the others. I do believe they have more intelligence and individual personalities than the average fish, due to the fact they fiercely protect their young (in some very interesting ways). Also some form lifelong partners that will never mate again if their partner dies. They also adapt to how you treat them and will learn to trust humans and eat from your hand. Even when not feeding whenever I put my hand in the tank they run up to it and brush against it and love to be touched and pet like a dog. Its kind of creepy sometimes when your just sitting in the room and you see 15 fish in the same position just staring at you motionless until you walk up to the tank and they put on a big show for attention.

More or less just overall personality, intelligent, agressivness. Your story of them all starting at you is perfect. My wife and I were sitting on the floor the other day below the fish tank and at one point all of my Angels and the loaches were starting at us.

Gotta love that, haven't convinced my loaches to do mine yet, not sure I would trust them though. :grinyes:

Dojo loaches for me the swim around my hands and nibble my fingers all the time
JD though always knows if I am going to be feeding him dances around if he sees me

My Jack Dempsey goes nuts when I get out the can of freeze-dried shrimp. He does a little dance up against the glass too.

For me, its a little bit of a toss up between loaches and discus, but ultimately, I think I'll put my vote on discus. Loaches are very playful and fun to watch, but my discus have created their own mini-society. Each has a unique personality and individual role in the group.

I think my betta does, more than any of my other fish. He never flares his gills at me and comes up to greet me and follows my finger. He also always begs for food. My brother's betta is just the opposite. He flares, doesn't beg and hides. Of course my betta's tank is much nicer.

My betta also accepts tank mates while my brother's would probably kill them.

i have to go with pacus, don't own one but saw one in lfs and he would wait for someone to stand by his tank then he would splash them just for the fun of it ,.. very smart fish..
