what fish if good for me?

maybe some neon tetras, guppies or molly's any small colorful fish will look good

6 gallons is very small, personally i wouldnt keep any more than a single male betta in there, i suppose you could go with a small school of like 5 neon tetra. definately not mollys they get too big, guppies you could possibly do maybe 3 or 4. make sure you have a filter and heater running on it. if you wanted to go cool water you could maybe do 5/6 white cloud mountain minnows. really though, i would say stick to a betta fish, ideal tank for one and so many colours to choose form.

There are plenty of options that may fit there despite some people's protest that it is too small. Bettas are obviously the usual suggestions although the likes of sparkling gouramis, licorice gouramis, dwarf puffers and otos can be considered. Even a trio of male guppies, ember tetras, celestial pearl danios and lampeyes may work there.

If you want to try invertebrates, I suggest starting with red cherry shrimps. For snails, Malaysian trumpet snails, ramshorn snails, pond snails (Lymnaea stagnalis) and bladder snails will obviously work or for exotics, get a nerite snail or two but be sure to supplement them constantly with algae. They will consume algae but anything else will be ignored so consider yourself lucky if yours manage to consume commercial foods and veggies. You could also try mystery snails (Pomacea diffusa). Allow one snail per 2.5g rule as these snails do have a tendency to excrete heavy loads of wastes and can grow to a size similar to a golfball. If you don't want anything else, how about assassin snails (Clea helena)?

Mollies are fine if they're the "balloon" morphs but I would advise against attempting the others which will eventually need more space than a 6g can ever commit long-term. Bear in mind, mollies are a bit more lenient as well with their babies and will not readily cannibalize the fry to control the population so that should also be considered.

On the other hand, I am never going to patronize "balloon" mollies as they are genetically defective but that's my perception and that's how I see it besides the fact with their body structure, they are far more prone to swim bladder disorders.

Lupin mentioned my favorites... I'd go with a dwarf puffer! These are the coolest fish I've ever seen...

2 DPs, 5 male guppies, 7 male endlers, shrimp and a brig, or a betta. I strongly disagree with anyone saying you should put schooling fish in a 6 gallon.

Guppies, Cories, Small Tetras, snails, shrimp, and many many more...

you would be surprised how many fish are compatable... what are you in to? color? personality? breeding?
