Thanks for the advice I have a 3.5 foot juwel tank how many do you recommend I should get
I seem to be nay-saying so much when it comes to fish species for tanks, but here I am going to say yes, even though not the very best situation. But if 3.5 means three and a half feet in length, I would say you're OK. My 90g is four feet, and years ago I had a group of five in a 4-foot 50g. It is interesting that both times they spent considerable time together in their group, males clustered and females separate but next to them, not active at all. But when the relay race mood strikes them, which it does regularly, they are very fast swimmers.
Not knowing your volume, if this is around 40-50 gallons you can get a group of five or six, 3 males and 2 or 3 females of which you already have one. Make sure the middle of the tank is open from end to end. Low chunks of wood on the substrate are fine, and authentic, and plants along the back wall are OK. But have an open area mid-tank and that is where they will stay. I'll attach a photo of my 90g with this fish to give an idea of the sort of aquascape that works well.
Byron.
