what kinds of flakes should i get for my african cichlids? i currently am feeding them TetraCichlid Cichlid Flakes, but i am worried that these flakes contain too much protein??? what else is better to feed them then these flakes?

i feed mine omega one formula two. it is apparently meant for herbivorous freshwater fish. my yellow labs love it

Omega here..........:)

ok. ^_^ thanks. but will my socolofi and ahli love it too?

hmmm did u get a new ahli
oh and i feed mine cichlid pellets and bloodworms-flakes dont sink and mess up water in this big tank.
i feed my gouramis tropical flakes just the ones they make

i haven't gotten it yet. i'm not ready to keep it, but i am going to get a new one.

Limit the amount of animal protein you feed. Omega is a good brand. I feed veggie flakes from http://www.kensfish.com. If you could find some spirulina flakes, those would work too.

Skip the Ahli. ;)

i thought any meat protein at all was bad for labs?

It's more of any foods containing proteins of more than 45% that is bad.;) Concentrate on spirulina flakes.:)

I agree, its more of excess protein. You can feed stuff like frozen brine shrimp only as treats, maybe once a week. I would skip blood worms. Make the spirulina or veggie flakes their staple food.
