What floating plants do well in tannic water?

AI use penguin powerhead reverse-flow replacement sponges for prefilters on all my hob and canister intakes to keep plants from cutting off the water flow.

Interesting. I have lots of blocks of open cell foam, but rather than having a square gray block on a round intake I'd prefer to have something that looked a little less DIY looking. Do you know what size prefilter sponge fits an AC 70 intake?

The penguin sponges fit a bit tightly, but they will stretch enough to fit over the aquaclear 70/110 intakes. I also use them on my eheims and inside aquaclear quickfilter housings, just rinse them out when I do partial water changes. The structure is more open than aquaclear sponges, so it doesn't clog with debris as quickly. You can cut them in half for intake covers if you prefer. Kensfish sells them pretty cheap.

Amazon frogbit does exist and it does great in colored water, it looks great in biotopes with a lot of dead leaves. It develops a great root system that reaches down a bit too.
