Nutria are Class: Mammalia, Order: Rodentia, Family: Myocastoridae, Genus: Myocastor, Species: coypus.

Weasels are Class: Mammalia, Order: Carnivora, Family: Mustelidae, Genus: Mustela, Species: (various).

Rats are Class: Mammalia, Order Rodentia, Family: Muridae, Genus: (various), Species: (various).

Nuria are not of the 'weasel family', nor any kind of rat...not even close to either taxonomically.


As for foods eaten, I have eaten all on your list and can add to it: Cane rat, bat, domestic dog, various worms, various grubs, various beetle larvae, various spiders, various snakes, various lizards, turtles, mice, jellyfish, sea cucumber, koumis, blood, and a number of other things that I cannot remember offhand.

Interestingly, I will not eat cilantro, blue cheeses, Wonder bread, or Twinkies.

Thanks for the species lesson. They taste like weasel though. I did leave off iguana, turtles.. well, I'm a swamp boy.. turtle soup is almost as good as turtle nuggets, did'nt like sea cucumber or conch for that matter. I've eaten mice, but they were food grade mice, in a tradational roman preperation.. involved lark's tounge. Might wanna try that one. Send me the recipie for jellyfish. I want to cook something that's only a few molecules thick.

And you should really try twinkies, cilantro, and blue cheese, but not all together.

One of my co-workers fathers raises ostrich for those "snooty" restaurants on the coast.. They roasted one in a pit last thanksgiving.. Took over twelve hours.. Was a 2 - 75 to 90 lb drummies.. Wasn't bad.. And no it didn't taste like chicken.. Still really haven't figured it out either.

Osterich is kinda dense, like a cut of beef in texture, but the flavor is somewhere between pork and turkey. At least that's what it seemed like to me.

I don't eat cooked green pepper. Raw is ok, but cooked green pepper is really bitter tasting to me.
I also won't eat salmon. But other types of fish are ok. I don't quite know why. There is just something about salmon that I just don't like.
