what goes with gouramis

i dont want a ton of different fish. i want to stick with 2-3 species of fish. i'm not worried about algae at all. if i start getting algae on the sides of the tank, i'll just scrub and do a water change.

i'm doing a fishless cycle, no fish are going in the tank until its through cycling, but i have put some live plants in that used to be in a betta tank (the betta died)

i was at walmart and looked at their danios (no, i'm not going to buy ANY fish there) and i definately like them a lot. i LOVE the long-finned ones.

could i do like one blue neon dwarf gourami, 3 long-finned zebra danios, and 3 long-finned leopard danios? i really like both the zebra and leopard ones, they're both so pretty, but they're not BRIGHT like the gourami is, i think they'll look good in my tank with my black rocks and background.

I would think that would be a good fit. The danios with a duller look will make the gourami stand out and be a real center piece.

will 6 danios total overcrowd the tank? or should i just get like 4 zebras? i dont want to overcrowd it. its only a 10 gallon.

The danios should be pretty crazy. I don't have long-finned zebras, just the standard zebra and, like I've said, they zip around like they're on crack most of the time. Ideally, they like to be in larger groups. But, for a 10 gallon with a relatively calm gourami, I would stick with four.

I used to have a six gallon and i packed it to the brim with fish ( my first tank) so I wouldn't worry too much about throwing in six danios with a gourami. I had a dwarf male and female gourami pair that i loved to death. Personally i hate danios. I think they look cheap. But that's my personal opinion. I would put a small school of tetras in with it if it were me. I like cardinal tetras or if you want something a little less flashy black phantoms are cool (sticking with the whole blue theme) Even cooler are rummy nose tetras. They're active and pretty and school well in a smaller group.

i actually think tetras look cheap. the more i look at the danios, the more i like them. i was just looking at them again at walmart and i thought they were really pretty.
