What if my platy drops her fry overnight?

I already put the platy who has babies in a breeder box. I have other fish besides that one and i don't want the fry to get out into the aquarium.

But what I mean is that what if I am not there to remove the mother from eating the fry?

Your breeder box doesn't have a top part and when they babies ar born they fall throuh a screen at the bottom so the mom can't eat them? That is how mine is and it works great. You might want to look into getting one like that. If she drops at night there is nothing you can really do about it so that sucks!
HTH Good Luck With Her!

this happened to me before, dont worry, the fry arent as stupid as u think, they will find a good safe hiding spot and will makeit to the morning :D

Not to play devils advocate, but I have a vertical slit breeder box and a grate style breeder box and my guppy fry always drop into the separate compartment and then decide to go exploring, back into the upper compartment with their mommy in it. Cost me at least 1 fry the last time.

T'was feeding time and I noticed a fry in the upper compartment with its mommy. Before I could go and get the multi functional suction/cleaning tool (aka turkey baster), she decided she needed a snack, right then, right there.

I always save my platy fry, and certainly do not like the thought of them getting chomped on. But... platy fry can quickly multiple. If she drops fry over night or when you are not around the some might get eaten, but platy do not always go after fry, and even if they do, some will live. If you do not want to house (or find homes for) dozens of platys try to emotionally step back from the fry.

Is there an easier way I can get a seperator without spending a fortune? B/C I already got a breeding net...

my guppy dropped fry last night ...
it was a curious experience to casually glance at my tank and see a lil white thing come out from java moss then run back in as 10 hungry cardinals took chase.

I don't think any of them made it but I wasn't really planning on keeping these ones anyways...

They were already preggo from when I got them and I want my daddy to be the only daddy =/
