What if your sister was in charge of your tank?

Why couldnt you simply just do it yourself??? How old is she?
Don't let her near the tank stuff and don't let her put anything in there!

wow that algae bloom is disgusting..... although i guess i cant say to much since my 10g has been claimed by algae growth

wow i agree with everyone else whole heartedly, my neighbour once did the same, and i didnt even wait for her to leave, i said no, she put it in, i went at it with a net less than 5 mins later, even if it was family if they wouldnt do it as soon as i said id do it myself for my fishies sake! good luck with the clean up anyway.

your poor fish! it sounds like your sister is just a little kid and is probably not even old enough to do tank maintenance herself anyways. i would have cleaned it right away and explained to her why it was not okay, then put the fish food away. i hope your fish doesn't die because you are being stubborn. i have brothers(although we aren't kids anymore) so i remember the "it's your mess, you clean it" mentality, but the fishes well being is far more important than being right.

NOTICE HOW WHEN ASKED HOW OLD IS SHE, AND TOLD THAT HE SHOULD HAVE CLEANED IT UP HIMSELF.......SOMEONE HAS NOT BEEN BACK TO ANSWER OR POST ANY MORE RESPONSES!!!!!!!!!!! :evil_lol:

Why are you rubbing it in his face? He's just a kid! Give him a break, eh? He's obviously distraught about the situation. It's a learning experience. Don't TEASE him about it.

Geesh!

Maybe the OP is at school or work and that is why they haven't responded, its only been 6 hours ....

hey don't worry about it little dude, just clean the tank yourself and get it over with my little brother has dumped worse things than fish food in my tank sometimes killing some or all of my fish in the process. hair gel, shampoo, hand soap, ketchup, maple syrup, and evan tooth paste. but the main point is it's your tank, it's your fish, just clean it up for them... and hide the fish food lol

Explain to her about fish, about what fish are like and thwere personalities and what they can/can't be kept with and they will begin to take an interest, ubtil eventually you can teach them about feeding, cycling etc and they will understand about the proper care for fish.

My sister is eight years old, and I have taught her a lot. She evn knows how to fish-in and fish-out cycle. She writes in her little notebook about the temp. that species ate kept out and capatibility etc.

Good luck in explaining and teaching her!
