what is a bornio sucker
in the pleco family?
how big?

it is a common name for the chinese hillstream loach, a small, odd shaped loach native to the fast flowing mountain streams of nothern SE asia and southen china. like plecos, they have evolved a sucker like mouth to adapt to thier fast flowing environment and eat algae. they get to 3-4" and need cool, well oxygenated water with a strong current, and appreciate living around their own kind.

well thata weird i know what a hill stream loach is the store i go to seells them as hong kong suckers or hong kong devil fish
today they had boneo suckers but looked nothing like the hillstream
they must of put the wrong lable on the tank because the girl who is very knowlegable on plecos and cats didnt know the that it was miss named maybe?

there are several kinds of hillstream loach, just like there are several kinds of plecos. since they aren't too common in the trade, it is easier to refer to all of them as hillstream loach or borneo sucker instead of by their scientific names (just like plecos - you see clown plecos or rubberlip plecos, but most places don't refer to them as panaque maccus or chaetostoma thomasi). they all have the same basic requirements though.

Yeah, lots of hillstream loaches, different body shapes, colors, patterns. The common trait is that they need cool water (not tropical temp), fast flowing water, with high oxygen content. They prefer to feed of algea and microrganisms and should be a specialised tank for them. For any loach related info look at loaches.com best would be to know thier scienteific name and look at there species database there at http://www.loaches.com/species-index/species-index

Here is one of the best all-in-one guides to hillstream loaches and care: http://www.loaches.com/articles/hillstream-loaches-the-specialists-at-life-in-the-fast-lane You can see on the first picture on that link how varried they are all.
