I read on another forum that if you go to petsmart with a print off of a price of something from their website they are supposed to match that price. It usually is the same price as bigalsonline or maybe a dollar more but no shipping charges... enjoy :-)

the one i worked at was not a franchise and there was no owner. i guess some could be, but as far as i know none of them are. as far as i know they are all supposed to give you that price.

Well I did mention in another forum that both Petsmarts in my area (1 5 miles away, the other 15 miles away) do honor online pricing. All you do is put in the cart what you want, print, then bring it in. The way I found out about this was when I was looking to buy my current tank and the associate there told me to do that. While I didnt get my tank there, I did save about 30-35% off the tank necessities.

I also found out that Petco (usually cheaper in price than petsmart) will also honor petsmart's online pricing.

Here are some blurbs from the Petsmart website regarding online pricing and stores.

Pricing
All prices are in US dollars. Our prices are set independently of the PetSmart store locations. As an Internet company, PetSmart.com is committed to bringing you, our customer, the best overall prices available online.

Online Product Availability in Stores
In general, many of the same items offered online will be available for your convenience in stores. However, products and prices may occasionally vary by purchase area or method of shopping.

So with this information in hand, make life easy, call your petsmart and ask.

When I went to buy my fish tank at my closest Petsmart (there are 3 all within 20 minutes), they had just sold the one I wanted. So I went to another Petsmart and was pleasantly surprised that they not only had it but it was $10 cheaper :D .

All the Petsmarts in my area, about 5, will match prices because I have called and asked to know what is available to me. My Petco also took the online petsmart info because Petsmart was out of what I was looking for and Petco valued my business and matched the price. It never hurts to call and ask.

I would love to see where Petsmart is a franchise as in sells stores to people to run on their own..that is contrary to all the info I have read. You can find many articles on the net saying that is not the case. They may use the word franchise, but as in, they have many stores...not that they sell to individuals.

My Petsmart wants $225 CDN for a XP3. JL Aquatics only $150. I'd rather give my business to the little guy who I don't even have to haggle with.

PetSmart is a corporation through and through. As far as I know, there are NO franchises, but if you like I can ask the local district manager next time I see him. Heck, I'll just ask my store manager since I see her about every day.

All the PetSmarts around OKC honor the website price, but require tangible proof like a printout. It's really a corporate policy.

Also, it's been my experience in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma that PetCo is usually more expensive for everything but cat furniture. o.o; Except they have VERY good clearance sales.

((Of course, I've heard rumours of PetSmarts selling mixed-gender and feeder rodents which is COMPLETELY against the corporate policy. One sex per store, no feeders, all pets. I wish I could check those out in person. I hate live rodent feeding.))
