What is everyone doing for Cinco de Mayo?

I'll be spending Cinco de Mayo avoiding anyone doing anything about Cinco de Mayo. Vegas is bad enough normally. Factor in a couple hundred thousand (at least) drunk people, and I don't want to have anything to do with it. I'll take New Years Eve over Cinco de Mayo anyday. They're mostly happy drunks, not stupid drunks.

Cinco de Mayo is the Fifth of May. "They" say it's Mexican Independance Day, but it's actually something else. I can't remember what, but I think someone mentioned it earlier in this thread. Regardless, that's all story. In the US Cinco de Mayo is an excuse for everyone to be "Mexican", get totally smashed on Coronas and Cuervo margaritas, and exhibit absolutly no intelligence. Oddly enough, jails and drugstores are filled with hung over drunks the next day.

You sure are making a blanket statement there.... I hope the hispanic population in the US aren't offended....

Happy Cinco de Mayo!!

Hehe...as stated above its basically the mexican version of St. Patrick's day....big here in the San Francisco Bay Area....my Coronas are chilling and I'll probably grill some carnitas. I'm mainly irish-american but my wife and kids are hispanic. I'm always up for an excuse to drink beer and eat mexican food!

I intended nothing derogatory about Mexicains. Actually, it was a blanket derogatory statement about Americans. Simple fact, just like St. Pattys Day, most of the people celebrating it won't be of the celebrating ethnic group.

Im in San antonio, and it will a big deal here.....man we just finished with Fiesta and im still tryin to recover from that:bday: o well celebration must go on.

Ahh Fiesta in San Antonio....I remember it well. The river parades, the drunken masses at NIOSA. I lived five years in SA.
