What is needed for a planted tank?

I think I'll keep livebarers, but I might try a biotope of some sort. Still have alot of learning.LOL

myself id get the t5 lights , they are brighter and you could keep a few more med light ty plants

Here is a pic of the tank. I just set it up maybe 3 hours ago. Nevermind the tile not being finished still working on building the cabinets and finishing them.

Here is my reef tank if anyone like them. This was a recent build and everything is still setling from the move.

All the better, livebearers prefer harder water anyways.

t12's are less efficient than t8 or t5 bulbs but I think they would still work...

Thanks! It's not done yet I still have to find buy doors and paint them.

So either t8 or t5 and am I right in assuming the K rating is supposed to be 65K or is there a better color temp?

Most recommend the 6700-10K range for plants, although lower is ok. It's really whats appealing to your eye.
