What is Proper cory behavior?

Yes, they actually gulp air, like bettas or gouramis. They're really quite tough little cuties, with armour plates and breathing are, etc. :D

Yupper, normal little rascals at play ;)

I personally think that they do this far more frequently when younger - Just my experience

mine does that, my daught laughs all the time when she see him do that!

My cories do this all the time too. They even will come to the glass mid tank with all the others when I'm getting the food out at feeding time. They're a real sight to see.

It does seems like the older they are, the less often they do it. Perhaps because they are larger and are able to take in a bigger gulp at once. ;) Our large female cory sounds like she does a cannon ball when she goes up to the surface.

but no worries el wadd, its just what corydoras do. :D

Haha, not even a minute before I opened this thread I heard a 'plop' from my tank, looked over and saw my cories swimming down from the top.

My pandas used to play in the bubble wall at the back of the tank. They'd swim up to the top so fast I was afraid they'd overshoot and bounce off the hood. They'd swim up to the top and back down in an arc over and over all day long.

Then, while I was treating my tank for velvet using acriflavine, they stopped playing and ever since they stay on the bottom of the tank and aren't nearly as active as before :(
