Ok I finally got the money for a nano cude. I got a 12 gallon one. I got it friday and I put live sand and today I put live rock in it. The fish shop gave me a damsel to help the cycle. What is the next step I want to add coral and everything I am going all out. Do I need to get some polyps now or coral or mushrooms or just wait for it to cycle. I am also wanting to know what fish would you rcond for this tank. I like the gobies but I dont know what to have I also like the clown fish. Thanks. I have had many freshwater tanks and this is my first saltwater. Thanks for the help.

IMO: your next step is going back and returning the damsel to your LFS. you are putting a fish in an extreamly (or soon to be at least) toxic environment that could end up killing the fish, or at least doing perminent damage. Plus damsels are very agressive, esspecialy in a 12 gallon, you ay not be able to put any other fish in there.
return the fish and buy a raw shrimp form your grocery store. you dont even need to use all of it. that will cycle it for you

Ok damsel returned. I am now wondering what the next step is. And how long will it be untill I can put polyps and mushrooms and things in. What woould be a good mix of things for the tank. thanks for the help.

sweeeet.
wait until your tank cycles. until amonia, nitrates, and nitrites are at 0
then wait a few months, make sure you have the proper lighting, and give it a try
many people recomend 6 months. but for such hardy things as zoos and mushrooms, 3 should work fine.
