What is the quietest filter?

If you are after a quiet filter, don't buy a Whisper....

Another note: I have an HOB Aquatech 55 that is very quiet - I like it alot. I am running it with a Fluval 404 which is nearly silent.

i use on fX5 on my 75 gallon, and even when the ac isnt running and the tv isnt on, youd never notice the sound. my father visited the other day and remarked on how quiet it was

I have the water so high up that the tank water is practically touching the bio wheels.

even when the bio wheels are off the filter still makes to much noise.

Its not a bad thing just that it has a big impller housing and that is creating a pretty loud humm.

In my opinion i think the filter is woking more than up to its standards but it just isn't quiet enough for me.

I will look into the aqua tec!

I've owned Aquatechs in the past (those are the cheap Walmart filters) but my Aquaclears are still much more quiet.

i though i would return the 350 and try another 200 like i have already.

Do you think i would still have a noise prob if i did that?

I in my mind think that if you have 2 filters in a room would join together and combine their splashing and mechanical noise. Is this right?

How much is a aqua tech for a 75 gal, i like to over filter my 30 gal.

thats dabbling into the world of amplitude and noise frequency analysis.. perhaps if the impeller was rotating at the same frequency of resonation of, say, the stand the tank was on, or the hood, (which is HIGHLY unlikely), then perhaps it would seem louder. 2 filters are most likely going to sound more muddled, and not necessarily louder.

oh ok!

Do you think it is worth a try to get the 200 and see how that goes, or do you think i will ru into the same prob?

I just figured less flow / less bio wheels equals less noise, right!
