I will use them as prey for when my angelfish mature. This will stimulate them and create in my experience with fish healthy and happy fish.

i was thinking neon tetras.

They would be used as treats, not a staple diet. preferably no fin nippers.

Yea I was thinking neons too. They sell feeder fish at some stores that might be a more cost efficient choice though. I've seen some for like fifty cents a piece v.s. your average neon going for at least a buck.

Rosey Red Feeders

they are like guppies but much smaller and they are about 9 cents a piece. You can get them at petco and even walmart

I would recommended putting them in their own tank to QT them for a bit though. Feeders often have ich and other things

well in my case the feder guppies at my lfs are cullled from breeder stock so they aren't healthy and they are almost always deformed so they wouldn't swim efficently enough to be real prey.

the neons would be healthier and if i got a small group of them a couple times a year they would become great treats, and great prey being in a school, the angels would have to learn to weed out the weakones :naughty:.

rosy reds are to sick and small in my area, would be to much bs to buy ten and have 2 live and then give my angels diesease. also if they survived the angels they grow to 3 inches.

Why not add some livebearers like swordfish, platys or guppies. The adults should be fine with angelfish, and you'll save a ton of money since you won't be replacing fish often...or at all.

The smallest FW fish for the temps you want are really fry...not neons. Plus, if your adult livebearers are healthy, you'll be assured of healthy fry for your angelfish to eat.

Personally, I'd go with either swordtails or variatus platys...both are spunky enough to take care of themselves and they're actually interesting fish in their own right.

Despite having 3 females and 2 male variatus platys in with my leopard bushfish and trio of dwarf w. african cichlids (can't recall the species, but they're not common), I've only ever seen fry twice despite a lot of breeding behavior with the adult platys. I'm pretty sure my bushfish sucks up all the fry overnight (there is a reason his eyes are so big).

Feeder guppies. My LFS has them for $1.00 for 10 That is 10 cents each.

read up a bit...

he just said that was a good idea when I suggested it... but that his feeder guppies at his LFS are culled from the brood stock and are all deformed

ha, you're getting some kind of sadistic pleasure just thinking about your angels hunting.

ill try the mosquito fish, and yes it would be entertaining watching a fish hunt.

Mosquito fish i can actually get quite healthy around here and i can get those for free :lipssealedsmilie:.
